Yes! In just eleven days time, ‘The Christmas Project’, my second book with HQ (formerly Carina), a digital imprint of Harper Collins will be released into the world! (For more details and all the goss on Kate and Michael, hop over to the ‘Books’ tab at the top of the page).
As you can see, us writers have been known to fall into the category of ‘worriers’. The thing that I, and my fellow authors have to remember, is that I have absolutely no control over any of the above. So I just have to know that I did the best that I could and hope that some readers will like it – although, of course, I also hope that some will actually love it! But I also have to accept that there will be some who won’t. And that’s just all part of being a writer – or in fact being anything in the creative field. Art is completely subjective, whether it’s visual, or written. It’s impossible to please everyone – as much as we’d like to.
Of course, it’s not anywhere near as easy as that. We are emotional beings and when someone says they loved your book, it’s not unknown for us to shed a tear or two. And when someone else says they don’t, well, the tears can make an appearance again, just not in quite the same way. It is the way of the creative world.
Of course, I shall be hoping for far more happy tears than sad ones but more than anything, I just hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it – because really, that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? Enjoying yourself and, with a bit of luck, bringing a little joy to others.
Happy writing – and reading!
Love, Maxi xx
